2019 State Fall Business Leadership Conference

This statewide leadership development experience is the most anticipated California PBL event in the Fall. The conference is designed for chapter officers, members with leadership potential, and chapter advisers.

The State Fall Business Leadership Conference (SFBLC) is planned and hosted by the state officers and the state management team. Sessions include motivational general sessions, workshops presented by state leaders, and training delivered by professionals from the business community.

This year, the State Fall Business Leadership Conference will be held at the College of the Canyons in Santa Clarita on November 16! The theme this year is Leadership Wins Championships…in sports we know that we can learn important lessons about confidence, tenacity, hard work, and perseverance when the going gets tough. Through the lens of sports theme, we’ll learn about leadership and gain the skills we need to be champions as PBL members, in our careers, and in life!

Mr. PBL Competition
Compete against other schools in a business pageant! Raise money for March of Dimes, perform a talent, and answer questions to become Mr.Phi Beta Lambda! March of Dimes works to improve the health of mothers and babies by preventing birth defects, premature birth and infant mortality. Without March of Dimes, millions of women and children wouldn’t be able to afford vital care necessary to their health. See if YOU have what it takes to become Mr. PBL!

Case Study Competition
Interested in developing your business sense? Sign up for a case study competition! These are real life case studies that you can face off against teams from other schools in order to experience what it really means to analyze a business case in real time and face your competition. Competitors will get the chance to present their analysis of the case to a panel of professional judges, plead their case, interact with in the moment questions from the judges, and get an overall informative experience.

STRIIVE
Ever heard of TED Talks? The concept is very similar, however you will be approaching a unique idea and presenting it to the various presidents of local chapters. Given you make it into the finals, you will even get the chance to present your idea to the entirety of the conference delegation!  STRIIVE (Sharing Thoughts Regarding Innovative Ideas, Vision, and Experiences) will be focused on this year’s theme of “Leadership Wins Championships.” and anyone who is ready for the challenge will have to speak in front of their peers about a unique idea, vision, or experience they have or had in the past.

Requirements
1. Speech and presentation must be between 8 to 10 minutes.
2. Application and material submission must be turned in by 11:59:59PM, October 31st.
3. Must be dressed in business professional attire during presentation.

Incubator Competition
Have you ever been curious about what it takes to make a business from scratch? Ever had ideas that you always thought might be interesting and wanted to try but never took the chance? Ever wanted a place where you could pitch with members from other schools to real professionals and a chance to pitch to CEO’s of successful startups? Well this is the chance to do that. The Incubator Competition will be host to several rounds in which you will create a service/product on the spot with a team of individuals from various colleges.

What will the rounds tackle?

  • Product Development Plan ⧫ Suppliers

  • Marketing Plan ⧫ Projected Profits & Expenses

  • Organizational Setup ⧫ Market Introduction
