In addition to the promotion and support of National Programs, California PBL has developed a set of programs tailored to the chapters and members of California. Awarded monthly to members who have made a significant, positive contribution to the development of California PBL. Recognition will be awarded after nomination by each local chapter's respective executive officer teams. A nominated member should have his or her nomination seconded by one officer or member before final submission to the State Officer Team. If they so decide, officers may conduct nomination sessions during General Meetings to open membership nominations to all members. There are few restrictions regarding nominations; while both members and officers may nominate one another, members may not nominate themselves. California's involvement in FBLA began in 1947, with the chartering of Fullerton College (formerly Fullerton Junior College). The first State Leadership Conference was held on April 29, 1950 with over 200 members in attendance. State officers were elected at this time and a constitution approved. The conference theme was "Leadership in Action." Despite the best attempts of the state officers to research the history of Phi Beta Lambda in California, little more is known about PBL’s origins in this state.
